Mr Atkin studied music in Colchester and completed his PGCE at Bretton Hall. Mr Atkin also holds a National Professional Qualification in Executive Leadership (NPQEL).
He started teaching in 1998 and has held a number of secondary school middle and senior leadership posts. Mr Atkin achieved Distinction at The Guardian East Midlands Teacher of the Year Awards in 2007 and was awarded Achievement for All Ambassador at the House of Lords in 2014.
He joined the Brunts Academy in 2009 as an Assistant Headteacher, secured the Head of School role in 2013, became Headteacher in May 2016, was seconded to the the post of Director of School Improvement in 2018, before returning to Brunts as Principal in 2020.
Miss Hackett has recently joined Brunts Academy from a local school, she was an Assistant Principal, Trust Director of KS5 as well as head of sixth form. She completed her degree in Humanities, majoring in English and Psychology, at Nottingham Trent University, in 1999. She has PGCED's in post 16 Education and in teacher of English. She has completed her NPQSL in 2019 and is currently completing her MA in Educational Leadership. Miss Hackett is passionate about personal development, careers and DEI and has led on many whole school initiatives, as well as leading as an early adopter school in 2020 for the new PSHE framework.
Miss Taylor studied Accounting and Finance at Nottingham Trent University before completing a PGCE in secondary mathematics in 2000. Miss Taylor joined Brunts Academy in 2015. She has worked in a variety of schools across North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire as a head of faculty and in a number of senior leadership positions, completing the NPQSL in 2021. Miss Taylor is passionate about teaching and learning and has successfully led on a number of whole school priorities at Brunts Academy. She currently holds responsibility for ITT provision, supporting PGCE, School Direct trainees and ECTs. Miss Taylor provides the strategic direction for the development of teaching and learning across the academy.
Mrs Loach studied Physical Education at the University of Bedfordshire and completed her training in 2009. She then went onto complete 2 years in a local secondary school, successfully completing her NQT and gaining a wide variety of experiences.
She then joined the British Army as a serving soldier where she spent 9 years as a Communications Operator within the Royal Corps of Signals, gaining many accolades for her outstanding contribution as a female serving soldier.
She re-joined the education sector in January 2020 and started work at the Brunts Academy in January 2021 as a Teacher of PE, then securing the Senior Vice Principal role.
