Michelle Hackett

Deputy Principal

Miss Hackett has recently joined Brunts Academy from a local school, she was an  Assistant Principal, Trust Director of KS5 as well as head of sixth form. She completed her degree in Humanities, majoring in English and Psychology, at Nottingham Trent University, in 1999. She has PGCED's in post 16 Education and in teacher of English. She has completed her NPQSL in 2019 and is currently completing her MA in Educational Leadership. Miss Hackett is passionate about personal development, careers and DEI and has led on many whole school initiatives, as well as leading as an early adopter school in 2020 for the new PSHE framework. 


Martin Fiddimore

Director of Post 16

Mr Fiddimore graduated from Sheffield University with a BA (hons) and Master of Arts in Philosophy. He worked in banking and finance for 24 years, during which he obtained a Diploma in Finance and Leasing.
Mr Fiddimore was Managing Director of a retail bank in Düsseldorf, Germany and a director of a major German international bank. He was subsequently Managing Director of several Asset management companies, also in Germany, before he returned to the UK in 2013 and gained a PGCE in teaching modern foreign languages.
Mr Fiddimore is a fluent German speaker, and teaches Economics, Philosophy and Business Studies

Helen Taylor

Senior Vice Principal - Teaching and Learning

Miss Taylor studied Accounting and Finance at Nottingham Trent University before completing a PGCE in secondary mathematics in 2000. Miss Taylor joined Brunts Academy in 2015. She has worked in a variety of schools across North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire as a head of faculty and in a number of senior leadership positions, completing the NPQSL in 2021. Miss Taylor is passionate about teaching and learning and has successfully led on a number of whole school priorities at Brunts Academy. She currently holds responsibility for ITT provision, supporting PGCE, School Direct trainees and ECTs. Miss Taylor provides the strategic direction for the development of teaching and learning across the academy.

Kate Loach

Senior Vice Principal - Achievement

Mrs Loach studied Physical Education at the University of Bedfordshire and completed her training in 2009. She then went onto complete 2 years in a local secondary school, successfully completing her NQT and gaining a wide variety of experiences.

She then joined the British Army as a serving soldier where she spent 9 years as a Communications Operator within the Royal Corps of Signals, gaining many accolades for her outstanding contribution as a female serving soldier.

She re-joined the education sector in January 2020 and started work at the Brunts Academy in January 2021 as a Teacher of PE, then securing the Senior Vice Principal role.

Emma Emery

Senior Vice Principal - Curriculum

Mrs Emery joined The Brunts Academy 18 years ago as a Newly Qualified Teacher after spending 5 years working in industry alongside securing a first-class honours degree at DeMontfort University. Following completion of her PGCE at Nottingham University, Emma has also gone on to complete a Masters Degree in Mathematics Teaching. After working in several leadership positions within the school, she is now the Trust Director of Maths. She is responsible for coordinating the maths provision for the schools within the trust, leading a team of mathematics teachers, and supporting staff development.
Mrs Emery is passionate about leadership, curriculum and developing teaching and learning. Following becoming a NCETM Professional Development Accredited Lead and a Secondary Maths Mastery Specialist in 2019, she has recently been appointed to Assistant Maths Hub Lead – East Midlands. This gives Emma the opportunity to work with schools in the wider community too.

Yasmin Ensor


Miss Ensor studied Fine Art Photography at the University of Derby, gaining a first class honours degree. She has exhibited her artwork in various shows including in an international photography festival and has had her research published in academic journals. She completed her PGCE in 2016 through Nottingham Trent University and recently returned to complete her Masters degree in Education. Miss Ensor joined the Brunts Academy in 2018 as an Art and Photography teacher, progressed to joint leader of The Arts before joining the SEND team as SENCo
