Drama

Our curriculum aims to explore what it means to be human using the physicalising of thought, time and space in drama. We look at why human beings behave the way they do both psychologically and sociologically through different texts and devising. A deep focus is placed on the historical and social context of drama which can be transferred into other subjects and professions beyond school life. Not only this but we aim to develop students’ confidence, teamworking ability, communication skills, resilience and ambition to take part and develop performances in and out of the classroom. Our curriculum has also has been adapted to introduce students to new cultures, different types of theatre around the world and plays written by a diverse range of playwrights.

Music

Our curriculum aims to develop students’ passion for music through listening, composing and performing. Students will develop their cultural understanding of musical conventions from across the world and will explore these through use of instruments and voice. They will have the opportunity to discover and develop their own musical preferences as well as to appreciate the musical preferences of others. Music provides students with many transferrable skills including confidence, inclusivity, resilience and a strong sense of identify and the world around them.

Art

Our Art curriculum aims to be accessible to all. We endeavour to encourage students to explore their own ideas, record experiences, and develop skills to evaluate and analyse works of Art. Students will learn how to be open-minded and explore their own interpretation of Art through a variety of mediums such as: pencil, paint, and print. Students will be introduced to great artists, designers, architects and craft makers to develop an understanding of the historical and cultural development of their art forms which both reflects and shapes our history, contributes to culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.
